Brilliant yellow and crocus-like, Sternbergia blooms about the same time as other autumn blooming bulbs. Each bulb sends up several stems with solitary, six-petaled flowers. Plant in a warm, well-drained area of the garden where the bulbs can bake during the summer. A native of the Mediterranean region, it is also commonly known as "Lilies of the field." 88/sq. yd.
